Faculty and students have been absent from university events for the past 18 months. After a business club initiative, we eventually got together to welcome our new students.
Varendra University’s Department of Business Administration hosted an on-campus orientation program for new Fall 2021 students in November 8 2021. The event was live-streamed on the Business Club’s Facebook page.
The program started with demonstrating fundamental information of the department and university as a whole. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of this University, Prof. Ashiq Mosaddik attended the program as a chief guest. Dr. Kaniz Habiba Afrin, Head of the department, presided over the entire program.
The speaker highlighted the scopes of availing potential scholarship opportunities and financial aid at this University. Later on, the chief guest encouraged the freshers to feel absolutely free and open to seeking any kind of assistance from the university in case of need. Dr. Rupa discussed important academic aspects and unique features of the university in her speech.
The speakers advised the freshers to be open to change and any kind of challenges they have been exposed to. “Nothing is constant and we need to learn from every new experience,” he said. As the students will evolve in the next four years through different types of experiences, it is crucial to learn to separate negative emotions from actions to pursue excellence, he added.
The Vice-Chancellor shared his own experiences of making choices while moving through different phases of life, exploring various opportunities that life has offered him. He especially emphasized the attitudes, discipline, and regular presence of the class.
Finally, the orientation program ended with a cultural program by the existing and new students. I think this orientation is a great form of interacting with each other. Good luck to everyone.
