Foster Responsible Digital Citizenship to Promote Freedom of Expression project is a grand initiative to support the young generation of Bangladesh so that they can become responsible citizens through mass awareness on digital citizenship and through the practice of freedom of expression.
The project is funded by the European Union and is being implemented by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF Bangladesh) and Dnet. The three-year initiative started in February 2020, which is destined to continue till January 2023.
The project will help the youths of Bangladesh to engage in a culture of positive and safe communication in the digital world.
It will support them in becoming responsible citizens to express their views independently and safely through digital channels. To help support this initiative, other educational stakeholders of the society including teachers, guardians, policymakers, media representatives, and officials of government and non-government organizations will also be included.
As part of that, a day-long workshop was held today where the speaker and the participants shared their views on digital citizenship and literacy. To express the freedom of expression and protect the rights of others, the speaker emphasized the 9 themes of digital citizens.
In order to be a good digital citizen, Youth needs to know the rights and responsibilities both online and offline so that they can exercise freedom of speech which is safe and respectful.
